School Achievements

The school has now undergone four OFSTED Inspections, in 1995, 1999, 2004 and most recently in July 2008.

The summary of our first report stated:
"Higher Bebington Junior School provides high quality education within a rich and stimulating environment. It fully meets and often exceeds the requirements of the National Curriculum. This is a school where teachers value the pupils highly and where pupils show considerable respect and support for each other."

Following this first inspection Higher Bebington Junior School was listed by Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools among a small number of excellent primary schools.
The school was inspected for a second time in June 1999, again, with remarkable success. Following this second inspection the school achieved the rare distinction of being again named by the Chief Inspector in his annually published report. In summation the report stated:
"Higher Bebington Junior School is an excellent school which has many outstanding strengths", and, "The school's motto, 'Pride in our School' is lived out every day".

In our third inspection of October 2004, the school gained a further significant accolade when for the third time we were judged as an 'excellent' school.
Ofsted recently added a new aspect to their website which lists 'particularly succesful schools'. Only around 200 schools nationally are listed as having achieved this distinction twice, and only 80 of those are Primary Schools. Indeed, only two Wirral schools appear with two entries.
The opening paragraph from the summary of our 2004 report sets the tone for the plaudits given throughout:
'This is an excellent school that provides very good value for money. The school is extremely well led and managed. Pupils have excellent attitudes to learning, achieve very well and attain high standards in English, Mathematics and science. Parents and pupils have very positive views of the school.'

OFSTED 2008 : AN OUTSTANDING SCHOOL

We were inspected by Ofsted in 2008 and judged at the highest level (1) in every area.

Here is a brief extract from the letter written to pupils after the Inspection: "We saw very happy children who enjoy school and get along extremely well with all of the adults in school and with each other. We were particularly impressed by your behaviour, politeness and your extremely positive attitudes to learning. You all constantly seek to achieve your best in everything you do. It was clear to us that you all, as your school motto and song told us, take 'pride in our school'. "

Higher Bebington Junior School values all aspects of education as evidenced by our status as a 'Health Promoting School', in recognition of our commitment to all aspects of children's health, and our 'Sport England Activemark', in recognition of the school's commitment to promoting the benefits of physical activity and school sport.

In March 2011 the school received an interim assessment letter from Head of Ofsted, Christine Gilbert, which stated: 'I am pleased to inform you that...performance has been sustained...I wish everyone in the school continued success in the future'
