CHRISTMAS DECORATION COMPETITION 2009

We had a wonderful response to our annual Christmas decoration Competition with superb efforts from everyone who entered. It was incredibly difficult to decide on the winners, but here they are: CLICK ON THE PICTURE TO SEE ALL THE WINNERS!

Year 6 Victorian Day

In the autumn term, children in Year 6 study Victorian Britain. Through this topic different aspects of History are experienced, along with related studies in English, Geography and PHSE. The specific focus of the topic is to look at the lives of children during the Victorian era and to gain an understanding of Victorian childhood.

Dressed as Victorian children, there is a visit to a recreated Victorian environment (most recently Quarry Bank Mill at Styal), and the following day staff and pupils take part in a Victorian Day, transporting everyone 150 years back in time to a typical school day of the mid-nineteenth century! These pictures show Standard 6 at work and at play!

Year 4 Roman Day

In the Spring term children in Year 4 study different aspects of Roman life. They visit the Grosvenor Museum in Chester and study archaeological finds. They also experience a guided walk around the Roman Walls dressed as Roman soldiers. Later in the term they conclude their studies with a Roman Day in school. A local expert is invited in to school and a wide range of different practical activities are set up for the children to try. But best of all, they spent the day dressed as Romans! These pictures show the children in costumes enjoying their Roman Day.
